Sr20det Or Sr20de

How you guys doing? Im leaving for boot camp in the near future and was curious what is the differnce between an sr20det and sr20de? Reason I ask is im going to either build up a 75' or earlier chevy with a 454 or im going to get a 240SX and swap out the motor. problem im having is i dont know the difference in the motor. Im assuming an sr20det is turbo and the sr20de is not. I found a website that was selling an sr20det for 2700 with the engine, tranny, ecu, wiring harness and all that other crap but, they also had the sr20de for 1700 with the same stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

the T means turbo. if you want power you want the DET, theres really no reason to swap in a SR20DE... the different turbo ones are in my sig.

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

I found this site
http://www.jdm-online.com/nissan/index.html
I was thinking of possibly buying the sr20det S13. Now another question. The S15 they have is $3800 and the S13 is $2100. Would I be better off buying the S13 and dropping $1700 of mods or just buy the S15?

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

I'd go with the S-13 black top and use the extra cash for mods. The S-15 has the VTC and that makes it a little harder to tune. From what I have heard to the 5 speed tranny that comes with the s-13 is alot better than the 6-speed that comes with the s-15.

you will need other misc. stuff to make the S15 work its not worth it (driveshaft, rear diff, etc.). The VTC isnt an issue it will only help unless your goals are like 600+ WHP. Also the 6 speed would be fine up until like 500 WHP, maybe a little less, but it does take a lot of power. so basically your choices should be in between the S13 and S14, and of that the earlier blacktop (S13) is the best choice, there exist some redtop S13's that are the same as the black's though but no way to tell from who you are going to buy it off of, so better just to try and snag a s13 blacktop, as they 99% chance have the upgraded internals that hold more power. the redtops i think do about 100 hp less on stock internals

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

Money aint the problem. Ill have between 9G and 10.5G for my project. Im only doing all this in about 6-12 Months (After BMT and Tech-School). I just wanted everyones thoughts. Im going to get the S13 and just do some basic mods (exhaust, FMI, BOV, Boost Controller) I also am getting a full S15 Front End Conversion ( JDM hood, Headlights, fenders, bumper ) and the S15 Tailights. Also Rims and tires. Do you think that is to ricey though?

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

Front and back S15 conversion is very rice, especially since I've never seen an S15 conversion that looked better then original front end. Spend the money on coilovers and rims that don't suck.

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

dont do all the s15 body shit i mean its your car but i dont think it looks good. and by not doing that you have so much more money to spend on having a sick suspension and better rims then you could get if you do the s15 stuff
