Hi, Master Hec0 - I just responded tonight to this question - apparently you posted it twice? Check the trunk, behind the lining or on the hinges or even on the rear wall of the trunk. If the five digit code isn't there, I would take it to the dealer to have them connect the car to their computer and access the code. Shop around, and try other dealers. It should not be a long, drawn out process. I don't know how long my dealer took as they were doing other things too, but they charged me 45 U.S. dollars to get the code, which is reasonable to me. If you cannot afford it, can you contact the previous owner? If not, your only other choice would be to try to remove the instrument panel to get to the computer module and see if there is a tape on it with the code. it's a risk, because it may not be there. My manual for my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis says it's so, but your GM is 11 years older, so I don't know if back then the code was still being taped to the computer module.
