2001 Accent 1.5 Fuel Filter

I have seen numerous different posts about where the filter is located. Can someone lead me in the right direction here? 2001 Accent 1.5

THanks

Mike

I have a 2000 and there is to the best of my understanding a shut off under the back seat and the filter is either there or on the firewall. I punked out and had them swap it out for me. Seemed like a PIA and mechanic was less than thrilled. Actual filter was about $20. Labor was another 70-80 bucks. If you go to Hyundai Web Tech (google it) you will find the exact location for your car. Unfortunately, I found to my dismay and yours soon too that Hyundai's web tech site will not let you on it if your car is a 2000 or older. You got 12 months left and then they cut the rope. All the best. Freddy

Re: Re: 2001 Accent 1.5 Fuel Filter

It is under the back seat. I did it myself, but spilled a little gas doing so and had to let it air out a bit. As best I can recall these were the steps... I think I found directions through a google search.

Unattached the front of the back set and propped it up.
Pried the rubber sealed metal panel off.
Took out the old filter (spilling the gas into the back seat)
Replaced the filter.
Mopped up the gas best I could.
Let it air out.
Replaced the metal panel and let down the seat.
Good to go....

I had no clue what I was doing, but it seemed to turn out ok.

Good Luck

edit: found this in an earlier post, by 8itgreat -- it has more detail:

ts under the rear seat...no need to drop the gas tank my friend...on the front of the rear seat there is a lever you push in on both sides (if sitting in rear seat you would reach it between your legs)

then behind seat there is a bolt on each side that needs to be unscrewed to lift seat out completely

pry off black cover gently...you now see the fuel pump harness and the fuel filter...make sure you unplug fuel pump harness and start your car and let it die to release fuel pressure...and when taking old filter out use the plugs on the new filter to keep the gas from spilling all over your back seat when taking old one out.

i think they also say to unplug negative on battery before fuel filter removal...the actual filter is very small...autozone gave me the wrong one first time and had to go back (idiots) the new right filter was like half the size and has a metal prong on one side

Re: 2001 Accent 1.5 Fuel Filter

a little hint if your ganna do the fuel filter. first yes its under the back seat there are two little clips all you have to do is pop them and the seat will come right out. then go to your fuse panal and pull the fuel pump fues/relay, and start your engine untill it stalls. that way you don't get gas everywhere...but make sure that you line everything back up cause if you don't your ganna run into a whole lot of problems... i know this one..haha
