96 Windstar Few problems

First of all my abs light comes on every now and then. Also when I'm driving slowly and i apply the breaks, my van makes an awful sound. Not so much like a grinding sound, but an awful sound. I've been told by a few people that it is probably the abs censor that needs to be replaced. Does this sound right? My brakes don't squeak at all.

Also, when I'm driving my steering wheel shakes like there is no tomorrow. Tierod problem??

It also needs body work (we were rearended, and the person that hit us left the scene.) The bumper is messed up, and the back door won't open.

I'm not sure if i want to sink a bunch of money into this or just buy something else.

Any info on the i stated would be greatly appreciated. You can also email me at [email protected]

Thanks
Jen

Lightbulb 98 Windstat Few Problems

When I First Purchased My Windstar I Had A Few Of The Same Problems.first,as Far As The Awful Noise From The Brakes I'd Describe It As A Kind Of Roar. It Comes From The Abs Motor.and The Abs Light Is Most Likely A Combination Of The Sensors And Motor.i Replaced The Motor And Cleaned All The Sensors,no Light And No More Noise.alsothe Vibration In The Front Wheels May Be Tie Rods But It Also May Be Wheel Balance .you Can Determine It By The Speed At Which The Vibration Starts ,low Speed Front End Parts, high Speed Wheel Balance, alignment, front End Parts.i Hope This Helps Ease Your Mind A Little.

Hello

Just to add a bit. I was able to get rid of my ABS motor running by cleaning and adjusting the rear ABS sensors. They get all sorts of crud on them from the dust off of the brake shoe.

I would have the front end looked at by a good front end shop. Look, ask around. Someone will know of a shop that helps rather than just guesses and replaces parts.

Regards

Dan
