95 S10 Ran Fine Then Went South
recenly replaced ignition module now solenoid is starting to go out. started it on monday it rean great for about 10 minutes then motor surged thenrpm dropped and it started running rough. when i gave it gas the rpms would barley go up and it started backfiring bad. i shut it off and restarted it, still running like on 4 cylinders, its a 4.3tbi. every once in a while it would idle smooth but still not very much power then it would return to the same rough idle that would shake the truck. SES light remains on. it has 195000 miles and it is getting plenty of gas so it is not a fuel pressure issue.any ideas?

Re: 95 S10 Ran Fine Then Went South
check the TB base gasket and look for vacuum leaks. check the brake booster check valve. check your EGR valve. sounds like a major vacuum leak. it could also be plugs/wires but with that many cylinders down at once its unlikely.

Re: 95 S10 Ran Fine Then Went South
update: tried to get codes by jumping my pins with a paper clip. no luck. i did get the truck started again though and it ran smooth again. could there just have been moisture in the cap or clogged fuel line from sitting for about 4 days?

Re: 95 S10 Ran Fine Then Went South
very possible and 95 is a funny year, rule of thumb, over 94 cant be jumped at pin A and H (top right is A, and it goes a, b, c etc to the left, then down and to the right) but some 95's can be and others cannot
