2002 ABS Light, where do I start?

My ABS light has been on for about a year now and I'm going to get to it finally. Where do I start? I've read some on here...someone said something about codes...how do you read ABS codes? Nothing popped up on the OBDII read, the Check Engine light is not on.

2002 3.2 V6 2WD

Thanks
Aaron

Check the fuse for starters.

There is a post floating around either here or plantetisuzu on how to retrieve ABS from the OBDII connector. You basically short two pins with a pc of wire and count the *flashes* of the ABS light. If your ABS light is on and ABS never activates, the system is probably without power or the ABS motor is shot.

G/luck

Re: 2002 ABS Light, where do I start?

Fuse is good, wiring and connectors look good. Light is on and steady and no pulsations noted during braking. I'm guessing the module near the fuse box on the pass side is the culprit.... is this an OEM only item or does someone know were I can get one cheap?

Thanks
Aaron

Any ABS part will be dealer/OEM. You also have two wheel speed sensors up front and one on the rear axle + a ton of wiring under the truck. The only way to know exactly what is going on is two read the ABS codes with a fancy $$$$ code reader, or jumper the pins per that thread.
