Buying a Hearse............

I have always liked the idea of owning a used hearse.
It's like a full-on luxury station wagon, with just enough morbid interest to attract attenion from others.

It's useful, and likely may avoid getting some parking/speeding tickets.

Does anyone here own one? Currently I am looking at a 1986 Fleetwood hease, like new condition and low mileage, but it's a bit difficult to place a value on such a beast.

Also, my wife finds the notion of riding in one, or having one parked in front of the house to be morbid and disturbing. She does not like the idea.

I think it would make a great car!! I would rather buy a herse than an old ambulance.No trauma,or bad things evere happend in a herse! Rock on- I've always admired the looks and feel of the '58 Cadillac hearse. The later models are cool too, but I have no idea how much one would cost.
If you find one to buy, be sure to check whether it was used to transport bodies directly from the scene of death or if it was simply used to move embalmed bodies- "fresh" corpses have a tendency to, ummm, "leak" and this could lead to messes under the carpet- body bag or not..... Good luck!

That's a good point!
My brother in law used to work for a mid-sized funeral home - the same folks who buried my father in law. They used their two hearses for all calls, pick - ups as well as the last ride, and I thought all homes did that, but perhaps not, if some leak.
