Question tires

anybody have any sugestions on u.h.p. street tires for a 400 + h.p.stiff suspention 68 'stang ? preferably in the 285-315 /17" size range. the car is set up for corners, but tires need to grip somewhat off idle.

I know the 67-68 are different from the 64-66's but will that size even fit? You might want to check and see if you have clearance. I had a 65 fastback and I would've been lucky to get a 235/60/15 under the rearend. I know that's alot different from what you're looking at but I'd do some checking before you buy. Good luck.

oh yeah theyll fit

most any mustang will hold a 10" tire w/ proper offset wheel. 68's will hold an 11 depending on section width and diameter (heigth). it will be risky but with the stiffness of my springs might even squeeze 11.5" in there.
keep in mind these are rear tires.
my goal is to have hard cornering ability for thrill rides.but not sacrifice smoking vettes from a red light.the car is very capable, its just finding a street tire thats up to the challenge.
i guess my question should have been whats the best grippin street tire out there.
