water in the spare tire area
I'm looking at a 96 GTI to buy and when I opened the rear hatch I discovered about 1" of water standing in the spare tire area. I saw something about cleaning the sunroof drains, but I don't know if it related to this. Can anyone advise before I pop for the car?

there pretty common for the hatch window seal to rust and leak water or liscence plate bracket area to rust and leak.
