Heater Coil help?

Hello all. I have a 95 Buick Century and am pretty sure I need to replace the heater core. I have radiator fluid soaking the passanger side foot well and light smoke coming from the vents occasionally. It fogs up the windows badly. Can anyone tell me whats involved in changing this? I have never changed one but I can see the hoses going into it from the fire wall. It look to me like I am going to have to get the dash board off to remove it but I am really hoping I am looking at it wrong. Thanx for reading.

First of all you need a new heater core as it is bad. The lower part of the dash and the bottom of the duct work needs to come off. I would purchase a Chiltons manual or shop manual to show you how to do this job. It can be quite complicated or relatively easy depending on the vehicle.

Thanx so much for the quick reply! I'm gonna go pick up the manual now and see how it goes.

Re: Heater Coil help?

By doing this yourself you can probably save several hundred dollars in repair costs. You will have to drain the cooling system to do this so you need to make sure you get the air out of the system once you are done. Not hard just takes a little time. Good Luck!
