SR20DET parts

ok my friend got a front mount intercooler and a new bov and is going to get a new turbo for his sr20 i was thinking i could probably get the side mount intercooler the stock bov and the t25 from him for cheap and run a small basic turbo setup for a LS...the question is will all the parts work for the LS? and what piping do i need for the side mount intercooler?

yes they will work, you will just need to fab up the piping, any shop can bend it to what you will need.

Re: SR20DET parts

IMO, the t25 is worthless on an engine with such low compression. I understand you're probably looking for just a little boost to give you more pep, and you want a small turbo to be on the safer side; but it's still tiny as hell. Honestly it's probably not worth it, but it's your car.

Re: SR20DET parts

you can sell that T25 and get something a little more worth while like a T3 Super60.....there are lots of cheaper turbos that you could get that would work well on your LS.

Re: SR20DET parts

o so your saying i could just get a better turbo for a better price? yea i know the t25 is really small but i still want a not too small but decent quick spooling turbo thats not too expensive...so what would be the best bang for my buck?

Re: SR20DET parts

the only thing i see being useful to you is the SMIC...honestly i think you could use the turbo, but you wouldn't see any huge gains...

Re: SR20DET parts

the bov would be useful....i didn't think about that...

Now that you're buying parts, its going to hook you.....make sure you have the money to do this before you start getting into it. If you're planning to boost, i would honestly budget $1500 at least.....you're going to need a new clutch more than likely, fuel management, injectors, dp, dump, mani, IC piping....you can get all that for cheap, but just be on the safe side and have some leeway...

Re: SR20DET parts

what kind of fuel management should i use? and i know im going to buy more and more after this so first i was thinking of walbro 255 fuel pump and what kind of injectors should i use? 370cc i thought should be ok so ill look and find a deal for those...downpipe i can get for cheap...i think its the mani thats going to be the most expensive so ill see which one i should get too...

Re: SR20DET parts

you need to decide how much power you want to make and how much you want to spend......i'll be back on Tuesday and if you can answer that, i'll help you out.....my build using almost all new parts is going to cost $2500 w/ a clutch and Crome tuning....

Re: SR20DET parts

There are quite a few places you can pick up fairly cheap turbos online. Try some of these:
www.cheapturbo.com
http://www.turbochargers.com
http://www.westcoast-turbo.com

If you want an inexpensive manifold you could get a log style one. There are a lot of companies that sell them for pretty cheap ($200-250). And there are places that sell the DIY kits, that you'd just need to weld together. You can also buy pre-bent piping and straight piping from places like summit racing; to build your charge (IC) pipes.
