I just want to know if i am able to better sound quality if i cut out the carpet and let the speaker show through? The car came with this and i think that alot of sound is wasted b/c the speaker is in the trunk w/o no opening to the car. its a 1992 pontiac sunbird. Thanks for the help!!

Re: Speaker volume?
My Oldsmobile is the same way. I was thinking about doing this, but it requeires cutting the rear deck, as well. Unless you want it looking really crappy. In my opinion, the amount of effort isn't worth the little bit of extra sound you'll get.

Re: Speaker volume?
your SQ difference will be minimal compared to replacing the drivers with even just slightly better. OEM drivers are garbage...fun to burn though....i will say this, they can take a beating.
