Security System Issue?
I've recently joined the community and if it works out, will probably stick around for a couple of years..
I just had my 2000 Eclipse shipped out here to Hawaii from Georgia. It arrived in one piece (whew), but there's one problem: My headlights keep flashing. Whenever I open ANY door, the headlights flash (security system?) But I think it may have been doing this for a while during shipment because the left one is now burned out. At night I have to wait a few minutes before I can drive anywhere or else my lights are flashing everyone... I can't get my vehicle registered are inspected until I resolve the issue. I'm certain i can change the bulb (from reading some other posts) but the whole flashing deal won't cut it.... Any suggestions? Oh yeah- Happy Holidays!

Well...
Well, the issue isn't totally resolved, but I did discover that when I unlock the passenger side first, and press the unlcok button, the lights won't flash...
Turns out the headlamp issue was from a melted connector. Replaced it with ease, thanks to this forum

Make sure that all the harnesses on the inside of the car are connected. The ones Im talking about are on the drivers side, near the fuse box. There are a couple harnesses there that are for like the auto locks/windows and whatnot. Make sure they are all snug.
Does your alarm work. To test, leave your window down, close and arm it, wait like 15 sec. and then reach inside and unlock it. It should set the alarm either when you unlock it, or open the door. If that doesnt work than your alarm if f'ed up...and maybe there is a short somewhere. Did you say you fixed the flashing lights thing?

And yes, I fixed the flashing light thing. Well, found a way around it actually... just have to unlock the vehicle from the passenger side. But if you look at the 'gear issue' thread, the security is the least of my worries until that's resolved. And i only have a few weeks before I leave again. #&$^(#
