CD Changer help
I recieved a CD changer from a member of my family and need some help installing it. I have a '97 Tarus with stock head unit. It has a CD changer option. The changer only has an 8-pin plug on the back. Diagrams and websites would be helpful.
Thanx. |

Re: CD Changer help
I'm fairly sure that aftermarket changers will not interface with the factory head unit. You'll have to by an aftermarket one w/ the scosche or chutchfield adapter plate.

Re: Re: CD Changer help
I thought that most CD changers would have about the same interface with maybe the exception of connector types or maye a pin or two.

Update:
I went out to my car and peeled back the trunk lining on the driver side to expose my sound system amp thingy. There is a missing plug in there which I found out is for a CD changer. So now the task should just be converting my 8-pin CD changer to fit in the open slot, right? If so, can someone let me know how that would work? |

Re: CD Changer help
go to http://www.crutchfield.com
for an adapter or go to ebay and take a chance. Also a local stereo installer should have an adapter. |

Re: CD Changer help
I think there may be another problem. The CD changer connects through an 8-pin... connector. The PIE adapter says something about 14-pin. will this work?

Re: CD Changer help
A quick update/recap, the cd changer I'm wanting to install came out of a '96 VW Audi Avant. The only connector I see on it is a male, 8-pin DIN connector. I'm trying to fit it into a '97 Ford Taurus.
