Factory Michelin Tires SUCK!!!

Anyone with the Michelin Pilots on there Tiburon. I have the 05 GT and at 15000 miles I need to replace them already. Another funny thing is that the rear tires are wearing faster than the front tires. This is pretty odd on a front wheel drive car. Anyone else having this problem or have advice? Thanks.

You are right. The stock tires do suck. The compound is to soft. You would be better off getting a set of cheap tires. They would last longer and wear better. I have about 9000 miles on my 05 and am on my 3rd set of fronts and need new rears. I have been getting lucky and blowing them out with enough tread to claim on my tire warrenty and have only had to buy 2 tires. I am holding out cuz I am ordering 19x9.5 falken rims this January.

It is not a stock body. I have a wide body kit along with custom fender liners that will allow just enough room for turning.

No I do not plan on dropping the car at all. The stance is tight know and handling is supperb. It will get a roll cage and upgraded suspension and I will race it and show a little. The kit from TC Sportline. It is the GT-C wide body kit. The front feders are replaced by fiberglass fenders and leave enough room. Also I have spacers to set them out and am still waiting to order till I decide what backspacing I want.

Re: Factory Michelin Tires SUCK!!!

yeah, the stock tires suck... I'm looking at a set of mickey thompson street tires for mine. I'm gonna go with 225/45-17's. I'm keepin the stock rims... I did a diy paint job on them and they came out great!

Re: Factory Michelin Tires SUCK!!!

I'm about to turn over 21,000 on my '05 GT, and My treads are all wearing fairly evenly, havent had to replace 'em... Depth on 'em is half the width of my key, so I'm still in good shape...

Dont think I drive like a Granny either, in this bad boy... Needless to say, when i went to Florida in the summer, i went from Chicago to Atlanta in 10 hours flat. o_O

Only thing i can figure why theyre wearing so well: I got new rims. Same 17" dimension, but theyre about an Inch deeper, so more tread hits the ground... Ill needa replace em, i know, and I think when I do, ill probably go for Pirellis

Re: Factory Michelin Tires SUCK!!!

When I went with new tires I did BF Goodwrench G-Force Sport 215/40/ZR17 and put them on the stock rims. It is am amazing differance. I recommend that before you buy tires you read review and decide what you are looking for. Performance, Tread wear, or all season. From what I found the G-Force Sports are the best all around with better tread wear than most other performance tires. The Perillis had good performance ratings but tread wear was about 4000 miles less.
