im looking at fitting 23 inch pegasus wheels to my current project a 69 yenko, the wheels need a fair bit hacked off them on the inside to make them fit under the guards nicely ,whats the easiest and safest way(no damage ) to do this ,if they cant be done i may leave the stock wheels thanks in advance

I would say a lathe. It's certainly my favorite tool for wheel mods.
But more seriously, do you have pics of the parts so you can explain what you're trying to do? The wheels are too wide?

Re: best way to cut down wheels ??
If you are trying to narrow the wheels, I would get a miter box and saw, and then trim up a block of wood to keep the wheel true to the saw. When you have that, glue the back of the wheel to the piece of wood and carefully cut down the centerline. That should leave you with a straight and true wheel the width you want.
I've also seen that you can drill holes in a block of wood as big as the wheel, find one the depth you want, and then use a saw against the wood to trim straight across. This was for cutting the trim rings off the outter edge of a Camaro wheel so the hole was almost as deep as the wheel. If you only want a couple millimters trimmed off it might not work so well. |
