5 speed clutch

anyone out there know if clutch can be adjusted. i think my 5 speed clutch pedal is a little higher now than previously. i can feel and see from my tach that my clutch slips at high speed like 3000 rpm and above.

You're talking about two different things. One is the engagement point, which can be adjusted by screwing around with the clutch cable. Open the hood, and have someone press the clutch in and out, and look for the cable that moves. Well, you can adjust the engament point with that.

The second is the slipping issue. If it's slipping above 3000 rpms, than the clutch is bad, and adjusting will not help. You will then need a new clutch.

if my clutch is bad..how cum it wont slip at low speed or below 3000 rpm?

The higher in the rpms you are, the more power the engine makes. Since your clutch is worn out, it's not able to hold all the power that the engine is making, and therefore it slips.

hmm ok..so do you think i should replace my clutch then? which one is better ..high performance or just regular stock clutch? i dont race but i like to drive fast sometimes..

I'd just get an aftermarket one. Probably stage 1 or 2, nothing higher though. They will probably last longer than stock. Don't get 3 or higher because it becomes harder to slip and becomes harder to drive on the streets.

Ive always gotten just stock replacements. theres no need for stage 1, 2.... any of that for just a stock motor that likes to be driven hard every once in a while. if youve got the money to spare, go ahead and get a stage 1 or something but its definitly not necessary.

i totally agree - no need for stage 1 and expecially not stage 2 lets not even talk abou stage 3.

yes that is DEFINITELY a bad clutch - if its so bad that its slipping past 3000rpm then u better change it FAST or dont drive it. after a week or less of drivign on that clutch it will wear down to a point where u wont be able to go faster than 30mph revving at 7000 or go up the slightest inclined hill and ur transmission will be full of hair-like fibers from the clutch.
