Question transmission hydraulic pump???? mechanic said its bad 94 explorer 4x4

the transmission isnt working

is it possible that the hydraulic pump went out

thats what this mechanic is telling me

does any1 know where this pump is located and how hard it is to do it myself?

First, Take it to another shop! This guy sounds DUMB. If it is infact the pump, then it is something that will have to be done during a complete overhaul of the tranny.

isnt the torque converter the pump?

No! It acts as like a clutch in amanuel tranny, allowing the engine to turn when the vehicle is stopped. The pump(s) are internal to the tranny. If that is the problem, you are probably looking at a complete rebuild to get it done right.
