Question knock knock who's there?(88 Regal knocking)

okay here's the deal,

About 14 months ago bought used 88 Regal Limited. A little "worn" but worked okay except that "Service Engine Soon" light stayed on. No $ so no trip to car Dr. Drove car for about a month then it just wouldn't start.

Took car to shop for dx on 15th and got it back on 21st after getting new crank sensor, oil pan gasket, oil filter, oil, fuel pump, strainer, and fuel filter. Car ran but wouldn't idle. We ran out of money so had to tell him to stop.

We cleaned throttle body and put injection cleaner in tank and it ran a little better. This morning hubby drove daughter to work (40mi round trip) and on last mile or so when slowing (idle on excelerator) car died in motion and started knocking. Oil smells like there is fuel in it and check engine light came on. Also car wont start in neutral.

Argh!

Re: knock knock who's there?(88 Regal knocking)

Hmmm..... Tps (throttle posistion sensor) maybe?
and does it sound like the knock is coming from the top of the motor, or the bottom end of the motor (if you can tell)?
