Headrest removal

Anybody know how to get the headrest out of the center row captain's seat on a 2003 Montana?

One of the manuals I have says there is a tool that slides down the headrest posts to be able to remove them. It also says that a similar tool can be made.

The tool is GM # J 42372. It kind of looks like a curved shim or half-sleeve.

The procedure says to raise the headrest to its full up position and push it back down "just enough" to get the locking pin between "detents" (groves) so that the tool can be slide down the shaft and keep the pin from locking. Then pull the headrest all the way up and out.

Hope this helps.

Take Care,

Aha! Thank you for looking this up for me. I may have to empty a beer can to use as a shim. Dang!
