Re: TRANSMISSION iSSUE

If the price of parts is going to me more than 150, I'd look for another tranny b/c you can pick them up for 150-200 bucks.

does this have to do with a loose cable, or something as only the Reverse gear is not working, I can out it to R position effortleesly, it however only does not engage

Re: TRANSMISSION iSSUE

its not cable operated, its done by linkage. It could possibly be bent or loose.

However its odd that it can move into position and not engage. Did you hear any loud and/or strange noises while you was doing it?

You could have broken a gear, or shaft inside.

No did not hearany noises, the wheels were spimnning and egine reving up , so I might not have noticed.

so the only option is to open up the transmission now, right

Yes the fluid level was fine. now Reverse is working flawlessly. now 4th gear works till 45 KM per hours and then gives a grinding noise, The car runs ok on 2nd and #rd gear. The car is automatic.

Re: TRANSMISSION iSSUE

oh shit, didn't even realize it was an AT, those are out of my realm, never tore one a part so i'm not sure quite how they work.

But I do remember reading in the honda manual that they reccommend not rocking the auto.

if you read the civic manual that came with the car, it says not to do what you did...shift gears back and forth and spin the wheels, as transmission damage may occur. Sorry.
