If your power steering wasn't acting properly, perhaps it was cold enough to freeze the fluid reservoir and it burst out? If you have old, worn out fluid that has absorbed mositure over time, it will freeze. Happens to older cars here in Maine every once in a while. The color puddle you describe sounds about right for that. You might want to have the hydraulic steering system checked.
The green color sounds like anti-freeze, which is a separate leakage problem. Has this car received scheduled maintenance regularly? Or perhaps did something strike the front undercarrige causing damage?
The two different puddles might not be a coincidence.
