white face guages install problem!!

i have a "mitsubishi avenger". its rare considering that the tach redlines at 7 grand and the piping for a turbo is there but the turbo isn't lol. but i thought it was appropraite enough to post here(and the guys couldn't hepl me in the avenger forum) anyways i can't get teh guages to light up when the knob is in the headlight position. they will light up in the parking light position but then when i turn the headlights on the original lights from the guages before will remain on but the white face guages will go out!??!?!?! why is this happening? thanks in advance guys

Re: white face guages install problem!!

1 of 2 problems.

1) not hooked to the right wire. Do you loose power on that wire when the lgihts are on?

2) The headlights draw too much power and you get slightly less then 12v on the wire. Most of the ebay lights have a circuit in the inverter that causes them to not turn on even if the voltage is slightly less then 12v. Check the voltage on the wire. If this is the problem turn the car on and leave it running for a while see if they come on once it pushes enough power.
