LT1 leaking oil
I have found the 5th problem with my 95 z28 in my 1st month of owning it. I did some snooping around under the hood today and noticed a slight oil leak coming from the front of the engine. I got under the car and took a look and there is oil around the harmonic balancer. So my guess is it's leaking from somewhere right above it. I was told that the seal on the distributor is notorious for leaking oil in these cars so that may possibly be the problem. Does anyone know how difficult this seal is to replace?

Re: LT1 leaking oil
All LT1's leak oil... it's just something they do.... as long as its not a HUGE leak, deal with it, its only going to come back after all of the work replacing the seals....so don't worry too much

The opti-spark seals might be it or the front seal on the intake manifold (LT1's are known for this)
Clean it up BUT don't get water on the opti spark or it is trash. run it and look for the leak, once you find it decide weather you want to fix it....but remember, leaks don't go away on their own..they just get bigger. |
