Programming Fog Lights

My '00 K1500 has the cutouts for the fog lights and I have installed them up to the point of inserting the relay and plugging in the wire. My question is if my computer needs to be programmed can I do it myself? I have a laptop and I can get a PDA if I need one. Do I need software and a cable or a whole new piece of equipment?

Re: Programming Fog Lights

You shouldn't have to reflash the PCM for foglights..

I installed the factory kit on my 99 and I had to have mine flashed so the computer would recognize them.

Re: Programming Fog Lights

That's crazy, lol!! I'd just get a set of aftermarkets. Why would the PCM care if it had fogs or not? keyless entry or factory alarm, maybe?

Let's say my PCM needs to be programmed...can I do it myself? I wouldn't mind spending a little $ to get a cable and software and I'm wondering if any of you guys have done this.

Re: Programming Fog Lights

I think it's the BCM (body control module) and not the PCM that needs programming. I dunno about the cables and programmer for that, tho.

Re: Programming Fog Lights

If you're lucky, the BCM will not have to be flashed. Most built before '02 do have to be flashed though.
