turn signal drl and brake light trouble

I have a 2000 Lumina 3.1 w/210,000 miles . About 6 weeks ago the daytime running lights quit coming on, bulbs are good. A week ago the left turn signal stopped working all bulbs are good and fuses check ok. Today all turn signals stopped working. I still have headlights , right brake light and taillights are on when head lights are on. Also front turnsignals and right rear flasher when emergency flasher is on. Have been told it might be the wiring harness (loom) in the steering column. I need help before I go crazy. Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks for the reply. Can't be a hitch, don't have one. Are the turn signal switches hard to replace (air bag trouble) ?

Re: turn signal drl and brake light trouble

Next thing on the common problem chart is the headlamp switch itself. Though as far as replacing the TSS, if you're careful and mindful of the airbag, there should be no problems. Though be especially careful in the winter, static electricity and electric ignitors aren't best of friends.

I'd check into the headlamp switch, though to be honest you'll probably want to do the TSS soon anyhow. Pick up a Haynes manual from the parts store to help you along, they're great for home mechanics.

Im going to bet on the TSS. A couple of months ago I was turning and the signal did that rapid blink sound so I bumped the switch and that made it stop. No more trouble for a few weeks then it happened again. I will replace the TSS. Thanks

The TSS cured the problem. The worst part of the job was pulling the wires up thru the column. It would have been easier if I had cut the connector off before I staryted to pull them thru.

I bent the connector sideways, with the stiff wires it held in the shape and made it much easier to slide thru the top of the column.
