what's the differance in the ECM and PCM
can anyone tell me the function of the ECM and PCM ??
and where they're located ?? thanks

Ecm is an old term it is now the the pcm, controls engine and trans and other intergrated functions. Most likely mounted somewhere under the hood, cannot be sure of the exact location.

i understand that a new PCM has to be programmed.is a dealer the only one that can program a PCM ??

If your thinking of replacing the PCM, you may want to pick one up at a salvage yard for a ton less $ than new. Make sure the replacement came from the same year, make, model w/ the same engine, transmission, etc..
