Question Mystery hose

While chasing down my rough idle problem on my 94 JGC Loredo 4.0, automatic, 4X4 I found a disconnected hose. It was laying on the fender well just below the air filter container. I traced it and found it is connected to the left front axle housing. It is a rubber hose about 1/4" in diameter with about 1/8" inside diameter. I cannot find where it was connected at the loose end. My vacuum diagram shows a vacuum connection to the 4X4 axle (if equipped) but there seems to be no place for this hose to connect. Any ideas?

Thanks Jazper, I think there is an attachment for the hose on the side of the air filter box which would keep it supported well above the axle.
I appreciate your help.
