Question Trailer Package

I have a 2005 grand cherokee with factory trailer package(7pin). One of the wires control electric brakes on a trailer.Do I have to add a controller or does the trucks computer do it? Theres no power at the connection with the brake on.

If it didnt come with a controller, youll have to add one, theres no provision in the computer to control trailer brakes. Whatever controller you get should have instructions on how to wire it into your existing trailer wiring. I just did this to my Cherokee not long ago and its not a big job. For yours, with the factory tow package, it may be as simple as locating a wire under the dash for the trailer brakes and plugging the controller in.
