Front end "POPS" when i turn left????

ok I have no idea what is going on here. I have a 96 cherokee I6. When If I am PARKED and i try to turn the wheels a little to the left there is a pop in hte front end of the jeep. This happens when I am going slow also. the faster i go the less i feel it. It SOUNDS to me like its coming from the front left side. I can move the steering wheel back and forth and it keeps on doing it. I only have to move my hand about 8 inches to make it pop. Is this something serious? any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking about taking it to a front end alignment shop. Is this the right kind of place to take it for this? Sorry i dont know more about the problem to describe it as of now.

thanks in advance for any help given..... TJ

Grab a large socket or wrench set and crank down on the steering box mounting screws, and the trac bar mount to frame brackets. If it's roveted, have someone work the wheel while you feel the bracket and rivets. I have seen the trac bar to ft axle bolt and the nut to the frame make noise. Usually a good retightening will do the trick.

There may also be a service bulletin on this.
Good luck!
