Re: taking engine out

A cherry picker... An engine stand actually bolts to the motor so that it can be rotated and twisted as needed for a tear down and rebuild.

***EDIT***

Now that I look closer at it, the auction says cherry picker/engine stand. But the picture is of a cherry picker... I don't really see how it can be an engine stand also.

Re: taking engine out

I donno really... You only need the cherry picker for pulling the motor and putting it back in... Personally, I'd borrow somebodys rather than buy one. As long as you have an engine stand to work on it you should be good... I really don't think its necessary to buy tools that you will only use once or twice. Thats just how I would do it though.

Re: taking engine out

Just pull the engine the old fasioned way, pull it in the garage, throw a chain around the rafters and hoist....or drop it from underneath.... Innovate man, be creative!!

Re: taking engine out

If you are dead set on getting a cherry picker they have them at pep boys, kragen, autozone and they are relatively inexpensive and they are folding. And they would work just fine for a dsm engine. A engine stand is not expensive at all.
