powersteering problem
Power steering pump shaft busted last week, did the Autozone thing and had a hell of a time bleeding it, like it didn't work at all, then it popped and chunked out a big frothy mess of fluid and seemed fine after that. This morning I started the pig and had no power steering, drove it down the road and she finally popped and seems to work normal except now under breaking I get a shimmy in the steering wheel that I don't believe I had before.. Doesn't make sense but whatever..
The f-ing piston slap that gm says it doesn’t have was diagnosed by the stealer as a intake coolant leak that they could reseal for $500 but they said that it wouldn’t fix the noise (douchebags) I won't even bring up the shitty ABS or the rotted tail gate straps that the cheap phucks recalled on every year but mine even though it’s the same part# Anyways, 99 4.3 2wd I'm up for any guesses, opinions or facts on the steering deal.. or you can point and laugh, I'm good for it.

Re: powersteering problem
2wd, I dunno if they had rack and pinion on the 99's. If yours is, I'd say you'd either better flush it a helluvalot more, or replace the rack unit. Check the pressure and return lines too for blockages, make sure you've got new o-rings, yada - yada.
If it's conventional steering, It's not unheard of to get a bad pump from autozone. I've gotten one myself just last month for my van. Chit happens. Hope you get her fixed. Probably beating a dead horse but make sure the pitman, idler, tie-rods, etc, are good and lube the hell outta them.

Re: powersteering problem
could that "big frothy mess of fluid" have found its way to the front brake area causing the shimmy under braking????????????
