problem: intrigue 2001 with 103K, all of a sudden would not start
no signs given, the security light was on security light stayed on, I turned the key, lights flashed, a click-nothing the car had plenty of light power and radio worked just fine it was an old battery but working just fine I went on this site.. people talked about the bad keys, ignition problems and the passlock (migrane thinking about $) one person stated that the battery may have power for many fuctions but lack power for (who knows what) needless to say, I had a battery at home, 45 minutes in 14 degree NY (transit strike weather) and the car turned on purrrrrrrrrrr in fact, the service engine light is out, it was on for weeks thank you, who ever you are.... |

Re: problem solved..Thanks
I have the same problem. Turn key, the dash lights all come on, then click, everything goes dead. Security light stays on steady. Usually only happens in colder weather. Radio resets to 1:00. Battery seems to work fine but who know. I'll try another battery and see what happens. I'll post here with results

Re: Re: problem solved..response
keep in mind the book recommends a 730+ CCA battery, I had a 550 cca and it worked fine. I changed the battery a week later to the recommended AC Delco or whatever because I like to get what is recommended. good luck
I have found the answer on the forum on 3-4 occassions. good luck |

Re: Re: Re: problem solved..response
New battery 750 CA, the one that came out was 630. Started on the first turn of the key. No security light. Just for my curiosity I hooked the old battery back up to see what would happen. Sure enough the engine and security light came on again.
What gets me is it wouldn't start when trying to boost it either. The battery had to be replaced. I too went through these forums and was thinking it was the ignition. I'd rather replace the battery than the ignition. Luckily I am on good terms with my local garage and they let me borrow a new battery to try and solve the problem. I told him if it was the battery I come back and pay him for it. I'll post again in a month and let people know if I have anymore problems. |
