speaker wiring

got a 97 Ford Explorer XLT

jus bought new speaks and now im tryin to install them

got the door panel off and now tryin to wire them

i cut the factory clip/harness off(prolly a bad idea) and tried to splice the wires

connected my batt and turned on my car and nothing....

no sound at all

any advice?

Is it still the stock stereo? You probably didn't get a good connection on the wires. If you tried to add wire between the stock wiring and the speakers you should sheck to make sure that the new wires you are adding are still good. I have bought cheap wire from autozone and it has been broken inside the insulation even though there is no visible damage. If that does not work the you may have to run new wires to the head unit.
