Engine dies when turn on A/C

My GT dies whenever I turn on my A/C and put the gears in Park or Neutral. The RPM meter will drop and goes back up to around 1000 and oscillates a few times before the engine cuts off... It is near it's 60k mile, so my guess is that the spark-plugs are getting weak and needs to be changed... Any other guesses?

go do your 60k tune up, and if it happens to the dealership say they broke it, if it doesn't happen anymore its fixed....

otherwise i am not entirely sure? battery, alternator maybe, it would'nthurt to have those checked out at an autoparts store (free) anywhere else will charge money... big money

kinda seems like it just isnt' getting the power to run the a/c and is not compensating correctly

Sounds like a dying alternator to me.

nope no mods, all stock... except radio... But it's nothing power hungry...

Yeah I just took my car out the other day and after I was hittin my system for a bit my car began to lag alot, So I stopped and than my R's were bouncing from about 400 to 1100 than I hit the a/c button and my car died? I have 57,000 miles and I am thinkin it must be an alternator problem

your alternator dosnt run your AC its the engine that does that if any thign jusr leave the ac off and if tour on the fan only and the car does that then yah your battery and/or your alternator is goin. If nothing happens then theres something wrong with the compressor or you need to raise your idle.

ok i believe that if the alternator isn't charging enough power for the battery your car WILL DIE, everything electrical is tied together so if any major part fails, then you have an electrical problem

i believe you ran out of power or caused the alternator to go bad and that would be why it died, it was trying to charge itself, and you asked too much from it. your best option is buying an alternator that can support your system. given that i have no system and don't plan to though, i can't help you on the brand or choice of alternator.
