Unhappy 1999 Trailblazer 4x4 Actuator Problem

Hello again guys. Need additional advice. 4X4 problems...Will not go into 4x4. lights just sit there and blink. Some times will make it into 4 HI but will blink after acceleration. Figured it was actuator...took to shop,,,,,tech estimates $700....sluggish actuator motor.

Questions:
Is this an electric motor?...LT has been recommending check vacumm so I am a bit confused to say the least. Nappa offers actuator in three models a 7 pin, a 6 pin, a 2 pin...whats the difference? Which one do I need?,....price range from 160-205.......any recommended sources? At least Nappa can find it....Oriellys, Adavance, and autozone cannot even loctate it in their books.

do you have any other suggestions that may be causing this actuator to have a sluggish motor?

by the way, WIfe is still pissed off about door.

lastly, if it is the actuator....where is it and what are the procedures to replace it? This is a fantastic site...you really should charge memebership or donation........if you do, perhaps i missed it.....where do you donate or what is the membership fee? Thanks again

Ernie

What transfer case 236 or 233 or other.
4 wheel Selecter buttons on dash?
Does it have a actuator solenoid/mt on front axel?
You need to get the codes if light is blinking at you.
Depending on what transfer case?
More info needed.

Re: 1999 Trailblazer 4x4 Actuator Problem

I hope it's not a serious problem. My '96 Blazer was doing the same thing. It also wouldn't go out of 4WD. I thought it was the transfer case. As it turns out, the button was stuck. My mechanic removed the switch from the dash and popped it out from the inside. Works fine now.

Your best bet is to simply pull the actuator and take with you up to the autoparts store to match it up. It's only 2 13mm bolts holding it on under the battery.
