My 94 z34 will start for only 3 seconds
hey i just purchased my 94 and found this site while i was looking for help i have a 94 z34 and the problem is that when i start it it cranks up goes straight to 3000 rpm and quit,it will start right back up and it does the same thing.has fuel pressure.i took it to the shop and they said that it had some anti theft code that was cutting off my fuel and wont let it run.there is no anti theft system on the car factory or aftermarket that i know about.Please some1 help me,ive been car less for a month now.Any input is appreciated THANKS.

Bad Sensor???
Any codes thrown into the computer??? This could tell alot here.
How fast does it rev? Gradually, or very fast, as if you suddenly floored the gas pedal? Maybe a TPS sensor (Throttle Position Sensor).

yeah as soon as the car starts it goes straight to 3000rpm and cuts off and if i start it again it does the exact same thing.before it wouldnt get any power to the fuel pump but it turned out to be the computer which i changed with 1 out of a 95 lumina withj a 3.4 in it,now it gets power to the pump but wont stay running.it didnt have any codes but when i took it top the shop this week they said that the antitheft code was coming up in the computer and the car dosnt even have an alarm system.by BTW before i put the 95 computer in the car it would start and idle real ruff then when i tried to hit the gas it stalled,that when i put in a new fuel filter and pump.

that is because you took the computer from a 95.. you need to find an original 94 computer. go to autozone and buy one, reflash the EEprom with a Tech1 tool and you are good to go. that 95 computer has Anti theft in it, always use the same year for computer parts in cars....
if you do that i am sure it will run like it should.

ok im goona try this and ill keep you posted on the results.thanks alot for the input .i checked the price and part # for both computers the 95 monte and the 94 lumina the computers have the same part# but i bet its the proms that are different huh? well ill just buy both of them and have them flashed somewhere thanks.
