a little bit of race info

Hey all you ford guys out there i need some help..this spring i got a race against an 04 taurus with my 95 dodge avenger now i was wondering would this car have a chance against my avenger there both stock but i have a little racing under me and the other driver is pretty stupid so tell me who would win you think?

Dont know bot my wifes 05 Taurus has problems keeping up with my 99 Neon.

Well then i aint worried cuz i think if your neon out runs it i think my avenger will walk away from it

I wouldn't be making assumptions on any race. My friend assumed his 4.6L V8 Thunder Chicken would walk my 2.9L V6. He bugged me about it so much that I finally accepted the challenge. It wasn't even close, my 2.9L massacured that 4.6L T-Bird. The big difference is that the 4.6L was stock and my 2.9 has a high lift cam as well as a few other upgrades.

I will admit that the 1.9L Saturn can take a 3.0L 12 valve Taurus. I imagine that engine is probably a 24 valve, I've never been in one. The Taurus is definately NOT a performance minded car. My 93' 3.8L 12v Taurus was pretty freaking slow.

to answer your original question, we need to know what engine is in the Taurus.

If the Taurus is a Vulcan and your Avenger is a 2.0, it should be a close race.

If the Taurus is a 24V DOHC Duratec and your Avenger is a 2.0, you'll get spanked

If the Taurus is a Vulcan and you have a 2.5, you should win pretty easily.

If the Taurus is a Duratec and you have a 2.5, you have a slight chance of winning if he can't launch and you can, otherwise I give the race to the taurus.

Sorry but my wife has the 24v Duratec and at stock with a 2.0 I matched her and got away from her in 3rd gear and that was it.Now I have a few mods and I wont even waste my time.Dont think that she just dont know how to make it perform,she is one of the most aggressive drivers I have ever seen male or female.

What are you tryin to say.........Neons smoke Avengers hands down LOL.Sorry I had to throw that in there but I have never met an Avenger I couldnt outrun.
