e-mail your future you.

Read about this on MSNBC.com this morning, and posted a link to it in the "5 year plan" thread, but thought it deserved a thread of it's own. Pretty cool idea, basically, you write an e-mail to yourself, which will be delivered to you on the date of your choosing (up to 30 years). I did one to myself for my birthday in 2008.

Re: e-mail your future you.

Unfortunately my email box will be so full of spam in the next few years that I will probably not even read it.

Re: e-mail your future you.

I tried this but I received an "out of office" reply from the future me. Oh well, I must be on vacation.

Re: e-mail your future you.

Thats cool but I doubt people will be using the same email account ~6-7 years in the future. I will probably still have mine though, haha..

No way people will be checking the same email account in 30 years.

Yeah. That's one reason I only did a 3 year e-mail. I know I'll still have my hotmail account then. However, you can register with them, think it costs money, but you can update your contact information as time goes on.

Re: e-mail your future you.

my elementary school teacher did this, i think in 5th grade. she had everyone write themselves a letter which she'd deliver like 5 years later. i got the letter like my first year of high school. cool idea

That must've been something. So what did you write to yourself?

Re: e-mail your future you.

^ i dunno, mostly bull shit. "your favorite band is..., your favorite food is... your dogs name is..." that kinda meaningless elementary school nonsense. i was just a dumb little kid, the significance of the whole thing was lost on me.
