when it's cold outside car will not start!
1992 318i 1.8 two winters in a row now once temp gets to 38 the car will not start. Run very strong other wise. I let it set in the garage last winter, come spring it fired up and ran great again all summer. Any one know what is wrong, and NO moving to Florida is not an option.
Thanks, Snuss |

You may check what kind of oil are you using in your car, i was reading my owner manual y that call my attention... "USING DIFERENT KIND OF OIL THAN THE APPROVED MAY RESULT IN A HARD STARTING'S IN A COLD WEATHER" so that may work

Re: when it's cold outside car will not start!
1 Change to winter oil
2 Use quality gas 3 Your battery or alternator is probably bad 4 Do a tune up Finally (especially change out the fuel filter) What can be wrong with it 1 Bad compression on cylinders, burnt valves, etc (not likely) 2 Bad fuel pump relay or pump (it doesnt prime before start) 3 Bad computer causing lean conditions 4 Any sensor such as coolant temp. sensor or air temp. sens, etc 5 a vacuum leak 6 a bad idle control motor Doest it start at all when its cold or what? If it refuses to start at all when its really cold then defenatly look at diagnostics and pulling out the codes |
