new noise

Ive been having this weird noise going on for the past few days. Cant really tell where its coming from. Once I git about 20-25 mph I get this sound almost like a power saw but not as high pitch, kind of whiney. Now as im excelerating it keeps getting louder and does not change at all while shifing, just gets louder. If im coasting and let off the gas it goes away, but as soon as I touch the pedal again its back, even if im not accelerating...just touching the pedal. I have noticed my tranny feeling a little funny the past few months, but hope its not that. Any one have something like this happen to them? Or any ideas as to what I should be checking out?

Sounds to me like your rear end has a bearing going out. My 2000 whined like your discription for 2-3 months before I loaded it up with camping supplies and a boat. 30 miles down the road it started growling(like a big dog) and the wheels would skip in a corner. Bottom line, tail shaft bearing and 2-3 hundred bucks. Parts were cheap, but labor killed me. Good luck.

Re: new noise

possibly, but i just rembered...i forgot to mention that it also makes a weird sound if im in park or neutral. Not the same noise but almost like a bearing is spining somewhere.

Re: new noise

well i did have a mech have a look at it last night while i was having my truvk inpected. He just listened with one of thoes stethascope looking things. He said it is definetly coming from the rear but is not sure weather is is the ring, pinion, or a bearing. But now i have a a tranny problem which is a little higher on my list. So, in a way you were close

Re: new noise

With the transmission problems you are having as well , i wonder if this noise is not the front pump in the trans starting to go. They like to whine when they start to go just as you describe, but just cause they whine does not means they are going either.
