Angry Vehicle Breakdown

While travelling in cruise control at highway speed my 2000 Intrigue shut off. No fuel, no power. After rolling to a stop I tried restarting and nothing. All indicator lights seem okay and but no joy. Have good battery, but no restart. When I leave the key in the on position all lights go out except the SECURITY light.

Any ideas??

Re: Vehicle Breakdown

Welcome to AF!

You have a security system problem. If the security light is on then the system has activated and shut your car down. You will need to reset the system before it will start for you. I am not certain how the reset works on the Olds but on most Pontiac products, simply set the emergency brake and with an original key turn the ignition on for 10 minutes, then shut it off for 10 seconds and repeat three times, on the third time start the car.

You may want to check with a dealer to see what to actually do to reset the system or tow it to the dealer and they can do it for you.
