Question Engine Codes???

Hey,

Recently my mother's 96 Grand Caravan went into the shop. The backstory, on the way to work, a car went to turn left in front of us, as it moved outta the way, she went to accelerate... The van sat there and revved... then went into "limp" mode (2nd gear all the way to work)... It would go outta limp mode everytime you cut it off and back on... but as soon as it tried to get into 3rd gear...it would slip, then "limp"... we get it back from the shop. They replaced: a crank sensor(crank shaft position sensor, I assume), a planet (gear, I assume), fluid, filter, shim, and a couple of other little things... On the receipt it had the codes, 53-36-57-74... if anyone could tell me what these are, or tell me where I can find out... that'd be great...

Re: Engine Codes???

Ok, I think that I've figured it out... looks like there could have been multiple codes in each of those ranges and he just short-handed the first two digits... I'm pretty sure that all of that is correct and lining up with the work he did, b/c all of the codes in the powertrain area seem to line up...

There was one in there for the AC... the AC no longer has a problem, but when we bought the van, it had to have the AC serviced (thankfully, the car lot took care of that)...

Thanks again

Re: Engine Codes???

Alright, I appreciate it... I'll have to remember that... b/c I'm usually on the Mitsubishi forums... (I have a 3000GT/Stealth)... I don't really know much about the Caravans, or at least stuff that's specific to them...

Re: Engine Codes???

Well , my parents have a 2003 dodge grand caravan sport, and my dad tought me all about cars sence i was in 6th grade, but, i decided to become a pharmacist.lol. Caravans can be tricky to work on sometimes, there not always fun, and yes you might have to have your wifer or g/f help you b/c for some reason, dodge likes to put things where we cant get to them beause they only give you limited space to work in. :-0..GO DODGE! Take it easy.
