93 Saturn SC clutch problems

I have a 1993 Saturn SC. When I push the clutch in all the way it still does not fully disengage, and it takes a small act of God to put it into gear. Any ideas?

Re: 93 Saturn SC clutch problems

first, check for normal operation of the clutch hydraulic release system (no free travel). if its ok,it can be attributed to the clutch disc.the spring inside the disc can be loose.

Thanks for your help. Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean by no free travel? Also, if it is the spring, how is that fixed?

Re: 93 Saturn SC clutch problems

excuse my english. that's mean pedal free play.the hydraulic clutch release systeme is seviced as complete unit and individual componements are not available separately.if there is a probleme with the clutch disc, the only way to fix it is to replace the disc.that's mean removing transaxle. when installing a new clutch disc, a new clutch pressure plate is also recommended.

you need to check the fluid in the resivoir. it is the little black rubber cap just below and to the side of the master cylinder. if the fluid is like half full it should be fine. this problem is normally a hyrdualic problem. you might need a new clutch release system. it is sold as a complete unit since it is sealed, you can buy seperate pieces but its a pain to bleed. it cost like $130-$180 depending on where you go. there are 2 places online to buy stock replacement parts for saturns, saturnparts.net and saturnparts.com. otherwise you need to go to the dealer.
