This has been covered a million times...

1st Check vac actuator under battery tray for tears, or leaks, and that the vac hose is connected. Replace if found

2nd Check vac hose leading from vac actuator to vac switch on transfer case for cracks and dry rot. Replace if found.

3rd Check remaining 2 hoses from vac switch on transfer case for dryrot or cracks Replace if found.

If all of the above are fine, disconnect your negative battery cable for 1/2 hour then reconnect it. If your 4x4 works after that you probably have a failing TCCM (Transfer case control module)

If that doesn't solve it, it's most likely the encoder motor.

Re: 4wd Question

Does anyone think that this would be an odd problem for a 2002 ZR5?

It just started this week, and I accused my wife of breaking it.

Shortly thereafter my Service Engine soon light came on and the

AutoZone guys said it was a coolant temperature not in sink with the thermostadt temp. Does anyone think they are related?

Awesome forum

Check the light bulb in the 4HI button. Pry the button assy out of dash, twist to remove bulb.

Hey MT, I am completely blind. I do not see a forum for the 4 door S-10 with the ZR5 package. Could you post a url maybe?

Thanks,

Re: 4wd Question

BlackZR5
You are in the right forum if it is a chev S-10.
A ZR5 could cover a lot of things or even could be a Honda or anything/.
But you need to start your own new post/tread on it.
And give the eng and trans and code no and all of the info you you have and some one will help you.
Posting in on another post gets everyone confused.
Start a new post please.
