anti-freeze leak

hi everyone, i firebird is overheating because it has a big anti-freeze leak. It's right above the water pump. My engine is a V6 3800. Can someone tell me what the part is called and how much it would cost to get it fixed? thank you so much.

What do you mean right above the water pump? Is it a hose? Head gasket? etc...more info please.

Re: anti-freeze leak

above the water pump..
is it where the hose from the radiator connects to the engine? thats the thermostat housing. my dad broke my thermostat housing..with a bunch of "quiksteel" and some metal epoxy i glued that fcker shut. turns out that it works real well except i wont be able to open it up again... changing the gasket for you should work.

it was a little plastic elbow pipe piece that the dealer sold to me for $10. but now when i put the anti-freeze, it still leaks but not from that place. So, i have anthor leak somewhere. i looked n the only thing i can find is that it is dripping from the oil filter (not from the inside of the oil filter). Anyone have any idea where my other leak may be?

Re: anti-freeze leak

"little plastic elbow thing" does that sound bad to you guys or what? is it a 4th gen v6 thing? i thought plastic = big nono for cooling system. specially since they shrink..last time i remember my dad tried to make an adapter out of PVC the thing shrunk to 1/3rd of its size...

Re: anti-freeze leak

can you take a picture so i can get a better look? i had a leak like that once but it was the hose that connects the engine and the radiator.
