What scale is the chassis? RS4? 1/10 is suppose...
Any 540 size motor will fit. IF you have the money, go brushless.

Any .12 - .18 side exhaust, standard shaft motor will drop right in. If you're replacing the stock .15 FE and don't want to change your throttle linkage, then look for a motor with a rotory carb. Slide carbs are usually better for onroad purposes, but you'll have to get a new linkage.

I think its better to buy a new rs4 3 rather than spend the cash on an engine. They're not exactly cheap.

There's really no need to get a whole new car if your just bashing and not racing. Sure the RS42 may be outdated, but if your just driving in an open parking lot it really doesn't matter. Replacement parts are still available, so until they're not you can still have fun with the RS42.

If you look around you can find some pretty good deals on replacement motors. Here's a couple to consider. HPI T-15 for $78 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFYN7&P=7) or the OS .18 CVRX for $99 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGGP6&P=7).

You're right. If the kit is still supported there's no need to buy a new one. Just thinking it was better coz the engine costs a third of a new rtr so I would buy a new one instead.
