flatlander757
Was the guy flooring the pedal or it is really a lag? how can a lag happens in an NA engine? and by the way the car is fast, I think it is faster than a stock GT-R |

IE: modded B20 w/ VTEC graph ![]() IE: very lightly modded LS1 graph ![]() Here is a quote from the Website that I found it on describing the mods done: "This dyno graph is of a 1998 LS1 TransAM with Thunder Racing 224 Camshaft on a 112 LSA with stock cylinder heads. Other mods include FLP Long Tube headers, Whisper Lid, LS6 intake manifold, ported throttle body, ASP Pulley Aluminum Flywheel, and Carbon Fiber Driveshaft." See what I mean in the torque and horsepower curves?

Re: N/A Civc tach and speedo video
who keeps a skyline stock anyway?
His car is extremely slow when not on the high lift/duration cam. It doesn't even sound WOT, or accerate like you might expect it to stock. If it is WOT, why not get a cam that upgrades the low-mid range also, like from 3500 up instead of 5000? Who wants a car that you have to rev it to 5000 to go fast? |

Seriously who cares where the powerband is as long as it gets the job done? BTW if he got a cam that helped mid-range he wouldn't be as fast BECAUSE THE ENIGNE IS PUSHING 9000 FRICKIN' RPMS! So what you think f1 cars are gay too because they have rpm engines? I hate hearing that meaningless arguement everytime a 4 cylinder is in question. Say whatever you want, but thats a fast car especially considering its an na 4 cylinder. It got to 135mph or so in a hurry.

Yeah well I'd rather have a car with some bottom end to make daily driving seem less econo-box-ish.

Btw in drag racing (where alot of these high HP FWD 4 bangers will be despite the owners saying how they handle better than big v8 cars) it's not exactly good for launches where you either bog the shit out of the engine or light the tires up in smoke. An S2000 makes 240HP and runs a 14.5-15 second 1/4 mile and weighs like 2800 pounds. A 5.0 mustang weighs ~3200 pounds makes 225HP and runs mid to high 14s. Obviously having 300 foot pounds of torque helps in certain forms of racing. In fact this guy I used to talk to drag races a 502CI 1970 camaro and despite having less hp than other racers, manages to consistantly beat other cars because of the massive torque the engine makes. As for F1 cars, they dont spend alot of time drag racing do they? Therefore making peak HP well above 14K rpms isn't much of a concern for them. Ya know what I hate? Honda fanboys argueing that their car is more effcient than say an Ls1 because they make more HP per liter, when in actually an Ls1 (and LS series engine) is more effcient than these high revving 4 bangers using a more usefull stat called BSFC. Btw an LS1 valvetrain is good for 7500 rpms ![]() Back to the civic, I'd love to see that car on a road course trying to take corners, as best motoring drivers say, "under under under" (understeer). |
