when your idle is high, get out and pop the hood, wiggle your Throttle Position Sensor wires, if it makes it go down, then thats your problem, get a new TPS connection or try to clean w/ electrical contact cleaner first

also a MUST do in your car is to replace you resin tipped Electrical Coolant Temp Sensor w/ a new one from the dealer, the new one is brass tipped and wont crack like the resin ones, its only about 19 bucks CDN when i got mine, im not sure what they run in the states, but probably around 16ish

there are many many posts about the ECTS, if you goto www.Saturnfans.com and goto the S Series / Tech section there is a really good thread about changing the ECTS w/ pictures, its super easy and probably the one of the first things i would try

yeah coolant sensor, and a possible idle air control valve. iac sensors are a common problem on gm vehicles, but i havent heard much on saturns having issues with them.

does it constantly do this or just at startup? 800-1100 is somewhat normal for an idle if it's at startup. mine goes up to 1100 on chilly days then goes to 800-900 after it's warmed up.
