Smile my 76

Greetings, just joined up so thought i would say Hi to anyone reading. I have only spent a short time looking here so if I do make a misstake of some sort I appologise now. Joined mainly as I have just got a `76 Firebird and will be doing a fair bit of the work myself and it seemed like a dam fine idea to find people with similar vehicles. It is sat without trans and engine as they are being rebuilt ready for the spring.Should have some pics of it by mid week and once i get the idea of how to put them here you can take a look. Its been modified slightly but most of that is unseen unless you get real close up.Oh yes and I`m in England ,where I might add ,the weather is `orrible at the moment. Thanks for reading this far

Welcome to A/F, is your bird an automatic or manual? What kind of motor are you having built for it? You'll find plenty of information and lots of help here.

And yes, believe it or not a 6-speed manual from a 2003 Viper!!!

Hi buddy and thanks for the welcome,
its got a th 400 auto with manual shift pattern, this took me a while to understand but I am (I think) up to speed on that. Should explain we brought the car with no engine or trans but it still had m.o.t
( british roadworthy test certificate) , then managed to get the th 400 from the same guy as he had it but never got to using it . He was told it had been worked on but I`ll get it checked over to be possitive before going to all the hassle of fitting it to find its a dud. The engine came from a `71 formula ( on ebay) and again as its history is not known for sure its in pieces for full clean (magnaflux?), replace anything thats worn out then perhaps some flowing of the heads nothing to over the top as its got to be driveable on the road.
Still not sure whats the best hedder to go for as the ones I have are not that good with only 3 tubes coming down from the block. Figured I would get some better ideas here you know ? ,see what others have done and with what results , and maybe even be of help in some way to another person .
